Metal Technology’s glazing solutions installed at Hawick Business Centre

Hawick Business Centre is a 433m² office space designed by Aitken Turnbull to provide modern and flexible workspaces for local businesses, allowing it to act as a starter business ‘hub’ within the town. Delivered by Maxi Construction, the building sits in the centre of the historical border town and the simple yet elegant façade complements the existing architectural style of the area.

A range of Metal Technology’s high performance architectural glazing solutions were installed by our valued sub contractor partner ARGLA: Architectural Glass and Aluminium Ltd. Products used were: System 17 high rise curtain walling with System 4-35 thermally enhanced casement inserts and System 10-35 thermal shopfront and doors.

The new three-storey hub includes communal kitchen facilities, and benefits from natural lighting, natural ventilation and fibre connectivity. The fully glazed ground floor ‘shop front’ entrance pays homage to the former building’s use as a department store and the building’s tall, vertical windows reflect the verticality of the surrounding buildings.

The redevelopment of this site has brought much-needed, contemporary office space for existing local businesses and entrepreneurs in Hawick, and will act as a catalyst for further property redevelopment and investment in the town.
