Architecture Night 2017

Friday 27 October 2017 is Architecture Night, a superlative social and cultural evening focusing on the power of architecture to bring about positive change. Organised by RSUA, and proudly sponsored and supported by Metal Technology, the event takes place in the Kings Works in the heart of Belfast’s Titanic Quarter, Belfast.

Inspired by the Society’s 2017 study trip experience of Copenhagen Street Food and the Meatpacking District in Vesterbro, for one night only, the 102,000 square foot industrial shed will be repurposed into a social space with an electric atmosphere.

Compered by the BBC’s Ireland correspondent Mark Simpson, Architecture Night will be an evening of three parts. Part 1 will focus on the best architecture students, Part 2 will reveal the outcome of the Belfast Flare Design Competition for early career architects and Part 3 will recognise the contribution made to architecture in Northern Ireland by Colin Davidson, world renowned artist and Jane Duncan, Immediate Past President of RIBA. Each of the three parts to the evening will have its own distinctive live music and round of street food which is being laid on by Yellow Door, one of Northern Ireland’s leading caterers.

In addition to Metal Technology, the event is also supported by JP Corry, Ceco, Hays and Catnic-Steel Lintels Ireland.

Metal Technology in Holiday Mode!

Design and Build contractor McAleer & Rushe and architect Urban Innovations specified Metal Technology’s standard capped (HR) and structural glazed (SP) System 17 curtain walling , along with System 10 automatic sliding main entrance doors and System 5-20D Hi+ thermally broken manual doors to create the modern distinctive Holiday Inn look for the brand’s 298-bed hotel in Manchester city centre.

The Dexter Moren designed hotel interior blends the hallmark Holiday Inn open plan style with tributes to contemporary Manchester icons, including George Best, Morrissey and the Gallagher brothers.

Metal Technology’s System 17 offers a wide and diverse range of profiles engineered to provide full structural integrity with high levels of both weather performance and thermal enhancement, offering complete design flexibility to any application.
