The Port of Leith Distillery is a new, 40-metre tall Scotch Whisky distillery currently being built in Edinburgh’s historic port of Leith, right on the edge of the harbour next to The Royal Yacht Britannia and The Ocean Terminal centre. For centuries, Leith was Scotland’s gateway to the world. The streets were lined with bonded warehouses, where much of Scotland’s whisky was matured, blended and bottled.
Designed by Threesixty Architecture Ltd and delivered by Colorado Construction, this remarkable, vertical distillery will include a top floor bar with spectacular panoramic views across Leith, Edinburgh and Fife. Metal Technology Ltd supplied its high-performance architectural glazing systems which were fabricated and installed by Avtek Ltd.
Metal Technology systems installed were: System 17-SP silicone pointed curtain walling, System 17 capped curtain walling and System 5-20DHi+ doors.
A very impressive and exciting project to be involved in! A modern landmark for Leith which will no doubt bring jobs and tourism to Scotland’s port town.
