Marking a major investment in further education, the £54 million Northern Regional College campus in Ballymena officially opened
for the 2025/26 academic year. A range of Metal Technology’s high insulation, low air permeability glazing systems were fabricated and installed in the project by Topglass, delivering quality, functionality, high performance, security and stunning aesthetics: System 17 Curtain Walling, System 4-35 Hi+ Thermally Enhanced Casement Windows, System 5-35 Hi+ Thermally Enhanced Tilt & Turn Windows and System 5-20D Hi+ Thermally Enhanced Heavy-Duty Doors.
Designed by McAdam Design and delivered by Heron Bros, the purpose-built campus combines the college’s three previous Ballymena locations into one state-of-the-art facility, supporting around 1,800 learners annually. All Ballymena course offerings have been consolidated at this new campus, which includes purpose-built facilities for vocational, technical, and professional education.
The facility spans 16,800m² across five storeys, featuring a dedicated Sports Zone and offers innovative spaces designed to align with the evolving requirements of a modern workforce.
A key highlight is the Advanced Technologies Department, covering approximately 5,000m² across the ground and first floors, providing specialist training in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, and Electronic Engineering, alongside Motor Vehicle and Construction Engineering disciplines. The Department also supports essential trades such as Electrical Installation, Plumbing, Carpentry, Joinery, and Bricklaying. The campus further enhances practical learning with a training restaurant and hair and beauty salons, offering students real-world experience.
Having also supplied our high performance glazing products for Northern Regional College’s Coleraine campus, we’re proud to have contributed to this state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility in Ballymena, which will benefit thousands of students and the wider community.
