The £40 million Nebula project at Milton Park is a cutting-edge, sustainable development of seven properties across three buildings, providing high tech research and development (R&D) workspace with offices. The almost 80,000 sq ft scheme has been designed to the highest standards, focusing on the use of environmentally conscious materials to reduce its carbon footprint, saving 686 tonnes of CO₂.
Designed by SRA Architects and delivered by main contractor Barnwood Limited, each building is fully self-contained, featuring a reception lobby with restrooms and showers, along with a combination of first-floor office space and ground-floor production areas. Aimed at science, technology or advanced engineering companies, Nebula offers Category A office spaces, with raised access floors, open ceilings, LED lighting, and advanced heating and cooling systems with fresh air ventilation.
A range of Metal Technology’s high-performance, architectural glazing products were installed by trusted fabricator Dudley’s Aluminium: System 17 curtain walling, 4-35 Hi windows, and 10-35 Hi doors, contributing to the project’s high-quality and sustainable design.
Built to meet BREEAM ‘Excellent’ sustainability standards and secure an A-rated Energy Performance Certificate, the buildings incorporate sustainably sourced glulam timber and vaulted ceilings, designed to house large-scale laboratory and engineering equipment. The project further enhanced its sustainability, with Barnwood donating excess wood to RAW Workshop, a social enterprise in Oxfordshire, for recycling into educational materials and new products.
Metal Technology are thrilled to have contributed to the state-of-the-art Nebula scheme, which will become home to a range of innovative start-ups and businesses and help boost economic growth in the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor.
