Elgin Academy

Scotland

Metal Technology supplied curtain walling, door and window systems on a replacement for one of Moray’s largest secondary schools.

The £40m Elgin Academy has a pupil capacity of over 1000. The new accommodation comprises classrooms, a games hall, gym, fitness suite and dance studio.

Applied on the multi-storey secondary school, System 17 High Rise Curtain Walling offers the designer a wide range of profiles that provide structural integrity, weather performance and thermal enhancement. A highly cost-effective, quality engineered glazing solution, System 17 complies with current British Standards and is an appropriate option for expansive high rise glazed applications. System 17 has been extended to include a mono or dual pitch roof light system that creates a complementary appearance to the vertical façade.

Fully compatible with System 17 Curtain walling, and installed across the project, the 4-20 thermally- broken casement window offers the advantages of polyamide thermal break technology in meeting the requirements of current building regulations.

In the education setting, System 10 commercial door answers a number of design questions. The system offers single / double–action pivot doors, in both standard and anti-finger trap forms and a fully rebated option with butt hinges is also available. Double and single door leaf options are included in the range and a variety of door jamb and stile formats offers the designer flexibility to achieve the entrance required.
