Bow Common Lane

London, England

Metal Technology has completed work on residential units at a regenerated brownfield site overlooking the Limehouse Cut canal at Bow Common Lane, Poplar in East London.

Built by Higgins Construction plc for Higgins Homes plc and Swan Housing Association Ltd, the £15m Aqua Vista scheme comprises 105 private and 52 affordable units together with 868m2 of commercial floorspace. The scheme also includes a basement car park, canal walkway, landscaped communal area and private gardens.

Metal Technology’s System 17 High Rise Curtain Walling offers the designer a range of profiles that provide structural integrity, weather performance and thermal enhancement. A quality-engineered glazing solution, System 17 complies with the Lifetime Homes and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 specifications required on the Aqua Vista scheme by architects Carey Jones.

Complementing System 17 at Aqua Vista, Metal Technology’s System 5-20 thermally broken tilt/ turn window and tilt/ slide doors offer the specifier the advantages of high performance polyamide thermal break technology in meeting and in many cases exceeding the latest building regulation thermal requirements. The intrinsic qualities of aluminium – infinite recyclability, durability, strength and lightness mean it is one of the most sustainable building materials in use today, reflecting Higgins Homes’ commitment to producing highly efficient dwellings.
