Metal Technology to help deliver Northern Ireland’s first Passivhaus student accommodation
We are delighted to be playing a part in bringing this significant development to Belfast which will be the first certified Passivhaus student accommodation in Northern Ireland and largest certified Passivhaus project on the island of Ireland. Metal Technology’s Passive House Institute-certified System 17 Hi+ Curtain Walling and System 5-45 Hi+ Windows will be installed in the build by fabricator Omagh Aluminium Systems.
Designed by RPP Architects and constructed by Graham Group, the £46m PBSA project for Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) is located on the Dublin Road and will reach 16 storeys with 459 student bedrooms in a mix of cluster apartments and studios. Due to open ahead of student intake in September 2026, high quality amenities will include meeting rooms, communal and social spaces, group dining areas, a post room, laundry and dedicated staff office and welfare facilities.
