GRASP Teaching and Learning Symposium at South West College
Metal Technology’s Tony Rosbotham, Specification & Business Development Manager, attended the first GRASP Teaching & Learning Symposium at South West College’s Erne Campus in Enniskillen.
The event focused on the Green Accelerated Skills Programme, a cross-border initiative set up to close the green skills gap in construction by building the knowledge needed for low-carbon construction and retrofit.
Metal Technology’s stand showcased the latest Passive House range, including System 5-45 Hi+ Tilt & Turn, System 17 Hi+ Curtain Walling, System 5-35D Hi+ Door and System 4-45 Hi+ Casement Window — the UK’s first aluminium casement window to achieve Passive House Institute certification.
It was good to meet customers, architects and industry partners who have taken Passive House Tradesperson, Consultant and Designer training through the programme. Keynotes came from Gary Kelly of Kelly Studio Architects, Barry McCarron of KORE Retrofit, Matt Bridgestock of John Gilbert Architects and Sussed Sustainability, and David McKelvey of CORA Consulting Engineers, with panel discussions on workforce needs, Net Zero, curriculum, collaboration and green careers.
Other exhibitors included Grant NI, KORE Retrofit, Warmflow, Ecological Building Systems and Futurecast. Alongside the product display, the day was a useful chance to connect with fabricators, architects and partners on projects across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
A worthwhile first event, which the organisers plan to make an annual fixture.
