Whitecraig Primary School, East Lothian

Whitecraig Primary School, delivered by Morrison Construction and designed by East Lothian’s in-house architect team, features Metal Technology’s System 17 Hi+ Curtain Walling, System 5-45 Hi+ Windows and System 5-20D Hi Doors, installed by Avtek Ltd.

Drawing inspiration from the region’s mining heritage, the building combines charcoal-grey brick, copper-coloured cladding and generous glazing to create a striking, playful design. Inside, the extensive use of glass floods eight classrooms and a nursery with natural light, while calming colours and textures create a supportive learning environment.

Since opening to pupils in January 2026, the school has been recognised for its thoughtful design, earning a place on the shortlist for the Scottish Design Awards 2026 in the Education Building or Project category.
